To be successful in any dog sport it is crucial to build and a balance of drive and impulse control. During this 6 week session, students will work on skills at both ends of this spectrum. A variety of activities and skills will be introduced which raise the dog’s level of activity and state of arousal along with skills and activities that produce a calmer more thoughtful state. As drive is built, students and dogs will be challenged to maintain control and focus even when their dogs are in a heightened state of arousal.

MOVE IT! Body awareness
4 week session
Each class is 45 minutes

Instructor: Judy Ramsey and Bonny Crews

New class start dates:

TBD

There is no prerequisite for this class.  However, dogs taking this class are expected to be able to be able to focus in a class setting while other dogs are working.

Body awareness and coordination are the basis for precise behaviors needed in agility, obedience, rally and other dog sports! During this four-week session, students will use shaping and targeting to teach full body awareness skills to their dogs. Set your dog up for success by teaching him to put his best paw forward!

All students will need the following items during the session:

2-non-slip mats such as a yoga mat, door mat or bath mat. The mats should be long and wide enough your dog can stand on it comfortably.

2-foot targets. A front foot target and a rear foot target. Both targets should differ slightly, but both should be slightly elevated and also large enough for your dog to comfortably put two feet on. A rubber feeding bowl, plant saucer, frisbee, and wooden plank all work well.

1- small target big enough for one paw touch
