What are group training sessions?

Group course sessions are essentially a small agility class with a course available to the group.   The main difference between this and a class is that there will be no instructor to help with training during the group course session.  Participants are expected to be familiar with agility equipment and in novice, open or masters level of showing.  If you are new to dog sports and especially agility, a class will be the best fit for you until you have the skills to practice and train on your own.

Suggested guidelines

These sessions are limited to 4 dogs during the 60 minute session.  In some cases, there may be another session before or after your scheduled time.  Below are suggested guidelines to follow during the group course session in order to help the session go smoothly.

  • There is a timer for your use, or you may use your phone’s timer

  • Suggested times are below - this allows for about 8 minutes to transition dogs, walk the course, set bars, etc. We suggest a 5 minute walk through at the start of your session.

  • 16 minutes on course PER DOG - the following are suggestions to split course time

    • 4 turns each - 3 minutes each

    • 2 turns each - 6 minutes each

    • 1 turn each -  13 minutes

  • Participants can use their turn however they like - it is not required to run the set course

  • Group members are encouraged to share ideas, be supportive and positively motivate each other to learn and grow

  • Please use your course time to walk the course if you arrive late and miss the walk through.

  • One person with multiple dogs

    • If someone has more than one dog, they may SPLIT their time between the two dogs.
