The First & Last 10 Seconds: Think of your agility run as a sandwich, and what happens before and after is the bread! Really good, or really bad, bread can make or break a sandwich! So many things happen when you enter the ring with your dog and before they even take the first obstacle. Are they connected? Disconnected? Are they holding their start line stay? Do they quickly get into position for the first obstacle? Learn the best start line and end of run routines for you and your dog!

Discrimination CONCEPTS: A discrimination occurs on an agility course when the next obstacle is close to another obstacle, and possibly on the dog’s line. To put it plainly, the dog is given a choice which obstacle to take! How do we train for these? How do we set up obstacles to help the dog’s understanding of our words and subtle body cues? In this session, we will not be focusing on coursework, but will be working through specific concept games to help dogs understand the concept of discrimination.

Distance and Commitment: Distance and commitment is key to a successful agility team! It’s important for your dog to confidently go to obstacles and take them, so you can get where you need to on course. We will present lots of different ways to enhance your dog’s distance skills, and you will leave with lots of homework!

Chill and Focus: Is your dog excitable and easily distracted? Maybe they get a little TOO excited. When dogs are too excited and aroused in agility, they have a hard time thinking. This session is meant to give you ideas and skills to incorporate into your training sessions to help your dog find their inner zen! This is beneficial for ALL dogs of agility, especially those who are new to the sport or who are already training/trialing and have a hard time putting their thinking cap on when things are exciting!

Teeter Skills: The teeter is one of the hardest obstacles in agility because of the movement, the sound and the inconsistency of the piece of equipment from place to place. Everyone is welcome in this workshop! Maybe your dog is already doing the teeter and you need to troubleshoot, or your dog has never done the teeter before and you want to introduce it properly.

VerbalS in agility: Verbals are very handy in agility, but when do we use them? How do we remember them? Which ones are important, and which aren’t? It can seem very overwhelming when trying to decide verbals for agility! Everyone has different words, and there are a ton of options. We will focus on common jump skills where verbals are appropriate, and how to classify which verbals to use.
