Kerstin Leon

Having a childhood passion of insects and other creepy crawlers has led Kerstin down an animal focused career. With a Bachelors in Entomology and Environmental Studies from Texas A&M, she has worked at several different AZA accredited zoos as both a zookeeper and an educator. Once she established her career, she adopted her first dog, a Red Cattle Dog/ Retriever mix. Dog sports were on her rader with him, but she focused on trick training at home. That changed when she adopted her first Border Collie in 2020 and discovered Agility. Since then she has added to the family with another Cattle Dog. The tenacity of cattle dogs will always hold a special place in her heart. While her first dog enjoys the retired life, She does trick training and agility with her Border Collie and her youngest Cattle Dog. Training animals is all about patience, positivity, and passion, no matter what species is in front of you! She thinks it's good for everyone with a dog to do some kind of class as frequently as possible. Not only is it wonderful enrichment and activity for your dog, it is also fun and enriching for their humans too! Besides dog training, Kerstin works full-time with local wildlife. In her free time, she can be found playing board games with her partner or reading while covered in a pile of dogs.
