Carolyn Tan

Carolyn has over 20 years of personal dog handling and positive reinforcement dog training experience. Besides dog training, Carolyn works professionally as a computer and digital media artist specializing in graphic and web design, mobile photography, audio and video editing. She has taught music and digital media for over 35 years at all levels. She currently owns 6 dogs – Westies: Tucker (15 years) & Tillie (12 years), Mini Aussie: Trooper (6 years), Shelties: DaisyRay (10 years) and Teddy Tav (1.8 years) and BorderPap: Tezzie (2.5 years).

Her dogs are actively involved in various dog sports and community services, which includes agility, canine musical freestyle, tricks performances, therapy dog, barn hunt, and dog diving. They have earned titles and received awards with Rally Free Elements Inc, Musical Freestyle with MDSA, AKC agility, AKC Barn Hunt, AKC Tricks Performance. Trooper, her Miniature Aussie, completed his AKC Elite Tricks Title and Championship Tricks Title with the DoMoreWithYourDog organization at the young age of 3. Several of her pups also perform Canine Freestyle (Dog dancing) at the Houston World Series of Dog Shows annually. Carolyn is also very passionate about agility, and she and her pack have competed at CPE and AKC National levels. 


Carolyn’s deep passion and love for dogs and dog training led her to pursue her certification with Karen Pryor Academy back in 2019, where she completed her certification with her team partner Trooper when he was 2 years of age. Carolyn is also an AKC approved evaluator CGC and Trick Dog tests and Certified Dog Tricks Instructor (CDTI) & Evaluator with Do More With Your Dog! (DMWYD).  She is currently working on completing her Rally FrEe Elements Instructor’s certification with RallyFree Inc. 


She is a professional member of various organizations and clubs - Musical Freestyle Dog Association (MDSA), Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), Faithful Paws Houston (Dog Therapy Services) and Caring Critters (Dog Therapy Services), Nasa Area Companion Dog Association - AKC Club (NACDA) and South Texas Agility Club (STAC).
